In each mammalian species, as well as in at least some other animals, reaching a certain metric age (which varies significantly across different species) signifies a slower or faster change in the individual's adaptability to both external and internal challenges. Eventually, changes are deep enough to lead to multiple aging-related or aging-associated diseases and, consequently, death. As much as we, members of the species Homo sapiens, would love to live long and healthy lives, and despite multiple, extensively researched studies within and outside the scope of biogerontology and anti-aging medicine, our understanding of the mechanisms of aging is still very far from complete. Biochemistry of aging seems to be the core of this understanding, whether we are interested in studying he aging of different systems of human bodies, other (including model) mammals, or even non-mammalian species.
On the other hand, our tools, methods, and instruments we apply for studying biological aging - also change with time - usually becoming more precise and sophisticated, so we can talk (and write) about "aging of biochemistry" in this context.

This Special Issue welcomes contributions that improve our understanding of the biochemical processes associated with the aging of humans and other mammals, as well as those of other animals. Also, any analysis on the topic of "aging of biochemistry" and its role in the development of science in general and of biogerontology in particular will be greatly appreciated.
Potential areas of interest may include, but are not limited to:
● Original papers concerning biochemical changes associated with the aging of various body systems (e.g., nervous, endocrine, immune, muscular, etc.) in mammals and non-mammalian species, at the single-cell, tissue, organ (and organoid), and bodily fluids. These changes should be analyzed and presented to demonstrate their association with the process of aging or its consequences
● Review (narrative, systematic) papers summarizing current understanding of the role of a specific type (or group) of biochemical modifications in cellular and organismal aging
● Review and position papers analyzing the possible impact of changes in biochemical instrumentation, methods, and scientific approaches for understanding of aging-associated and aging-related changes in human and animal physiology and pathology. These papers may include analyses by biochemists, biogerontologists, and philosophers of science.
