Cultural and Creative Sectors are undergoing profound transformations driven by the interplay of digital innovation, environmental sustainability imperatives, and evolving social dynamics. These interconnected processes are reshaping how culture is produced, distributed and experienced.

Creative work and cultural production sit at the heart of these changes. From the integration of advanced digital tools (most notably artificial intelligence) to the adoption of sustainable practices and the reconfiguration of labour conditions, cultural organisations and professionals are navigating increasingly complex environments.

This Special Issue seeks to explore how creative work and cultural production are being reconfigured in response to these digital, green and social transformations. It welcomes contributions that critically examine emerging practices, organisational changes, policy implications, and broader sectoral dynamics. Submissions may address, but are not limited to:

● Transformations of creative work and professional competences in the context of digitalisation, sustainability and social change.
● The role of digital technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, in reshaping creative processes and cultural production practices.
● Environmentally sustainable approaches to cultural production and the integration of ecological concerns into artistic and organisational practices.
● New organisational forms, production models and innovation practices in the cultural and creative sectors.
● Social inclusion, diversity and inequalities in cultural work and cultural production
● The impact of platformisation and digital infrastructures on cultural ecosystems and production networks.
● Skills, education and capacity-building for cultural professionals in the context of the triple transition.
● Cultural policies and governance frameworks addressing digital, green and social transformations.
● Collaborative networks, transnational cooperation and the role of European projects in fostering innovation in cultural production.
● Ethical, legal and regulatory challenges related to emerging technologies and changing conditions of cultural production.
● Innovative methodological approaches, including the use of big data, computational methods and digital tools, for analysing transformations in cultural production, audiences and sectoral dynamics.

Even though not mandatory, we encourage all interested researchers to submit a “manuscript summary” (max 1000 words) before submitting their manuscript. This summary should clearly outline the study’s objectives, main research questions, and findings or arguments. It should be grounded in a theoretical framework that draws on established scholarships in the field and situates the analysis within key debates and conceptual approaches. The methodology should provide sufficient detail on data collection and analytical procedures to ensure transparency and rigor. Finally, it should emphasize the study’s contribution and originality, explaining how the work advances current knowledge, opens new perspectives, or challenges existing assumptions within the discipline.

Manuscript summaries do not have to coincide with the final abstract of the submitted manuscript.
